Design & Manufacturing of Stainless Steel Deep Draw Tool for the Heavy Duty Truck Industry
CLL Engineering combines industry leading technologies with our own comprehensive knowledge to innovate solutions that provide value to our customers. We engineered the tooling shown here to provide predictable accuracy and economy in the manufacture of an engine baffle for a customer in the heavy duty truck industry. Fabricated from 321 stainless steel, this 8-station progressive draw die was precision crafted to draw thin stainless steel at maximum depth while maintaining precision tolerances.
Our ability to design and simulate complex stamping processes early in the development stage enabled us to refine the tooling design and build prototypes to validate the concept. Featuring overall dimensions of 20" in length and 32" in width, our master tool makers utilized our precision EDM machines, CNC mills, and jig grinding equipment to fabricate the tooling components to within ± 0.001" tolerances. We also heat treated the die to ensure it would provide long term use and withstand the high stresses of the progressive stamping process.
